"Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is both impractical and immoral." -- Martin Luther King, Jr.
Looking at the post from earlier this week, it is stunning to read the comments where people are actually defending the trouble-making fighters and lashing out at everyone who suggests these girls are responsible for their own actions. How is this not an indictment of not only our school system but our truculent society on the whole?
One comment was stirring when they suggested these "animals walk among us in stores..." because most people I know are ultra-cautious now days - especially during the Christmas season where predators lurk the malls, waiting for an opportunity to rob and assault shoppers. It is a sad situation that warrants law enforcement attention; however, with the ineffectual legislature to charge these kids as adults on a more constant basis, it is a moot point. The police can only go so far and the parents, much like LaVar Ball, often defend their child's criminal actions instead of exacting their own punishment.
When one looks to our legal system, minors are treated with kit gloves and then we're left with the criminals who are reared on victimhood and false perceptions about how the world works. Look at shows like Scared Straight, where the teens taken to the state penitentiary for the day, have no problem mouthing off to people - some of which who've killed others - and they don't scare easily. In fact, on many of the follow-ups, we find the experience didn't dissuade the teen from committing crime at all.
Is this also a prime example as to why the Federal Conceal and Carry is also a good idea at this point in our history. If they don't know who is or who is not packing heat, chances are they'll temper their mouths and actions. However, there will always be some who feel they're invincible.
The question as far as area schools are concerned is, what are the schools and the WCBOE going to do about this steady rise of school bullies who are creating a Fight Club environment? This is hardly a place where good kids can get an education in anything but fighting and all the wrong ways to settle disputes.
As for the poor-pitiful-victim commenters, your bully tactics are weak and mundane at best, especially done on a blog so why bother? You're just wasting your time. There's nothing you can say that can defend or justify the two girls in that video or their violent tendencies. There are more ways to solve differences without using violence. Shame on you for even trying!
